Integrating Google Reader into Google Buzz is a simple process and almost automatic. If you’re already a Google Reader user, you just have to add Reader into Buzz and can start from step #5. If you’re new to Reader, enable Google Buzz on your Google account and start at step #1.
Google Reader enhances a user’s social networking experience by enabling its users to combine separate sites such as Twitter, Blogger, and Picasa. With the launch of Google Buzz, users are now able to create tailored streams of content based on their preferences. Buzz users will have an easier time viewing and sharing the things that are most important to them. Here’s how to get the most out of both Google Reader and Google Buzz.
1) Sign in to your Google account.
2) Click on “Reader” at the top left corner of the screen.
3) Google Reader will open. If this is the first time you’re using Reader, you can browse for items you want to read. If you have RSS feeds that you already subscribe to, you can connect them here. There are also recommendations available if you don’t know what to pick.
4) Once you’ve selected the feeds in Google Reader, access Google Buzz by going to your gmail account. Click on “gmail” in the upper left corner of the screen.
5) At the top of your Buzz display, you will see your photo, name, the number of sites you’re connected to, and the number of followers you have. Click on the link that says, “1 connected site”. You will come to a screen that will list all the sites that you could connect to in Google Buzz. Select, “Reader” by clicking on the “Add” button located to the right.
6) You will then see a screen that asks you how you want to be shown to the public. You will need to set up a public Google profile if you don’t already have one. Click on “Save”.
7) You will then see your updates in Google Buzz.
8) If you want to make confirm or make changes to the privacy settings of your, access the Reader’s “shared settings”. You can do this by clicking on “edit” and then click on “Google Reader shared settings” while in your list of connected sites.
At this point, any updates made to Google Reader will be displayed in Google Buzz. Connecting other sites to Google Buzz is a user friendly process that improves sharing and communication. Users will find photo sharing easier with Flickr, conversing easier with Twitter, and blogging easier to promote using Blogger. Get connected today!
