Portraying a visceral and yet considerably inspirational phenomenon, The Passion of the Christ is a highly intriguing movie. Whether you are a religious person or not, there is something to be said about the special effects, and the movie will most likely keep you on the edge of your seat throughout. When it his theaters, it was a very large success. Christians viewed it because of the focus of the movie, atheists watched it, most likely, to mock it (or simply out of curiosity), and viewers without any religious stance went to the movie because it was such a large success.
It was directed by Mel Gibson, a largely popular and successful director and actor. It was produced by Bruce Davey, Mel Gibson, Stephen McEveety, and Enzo Sisti. It stars James Caviezel, Maia Morgenstern, Monica Bellucci, Hristo Naumov Shopov, Mattia Sbragia, and Rosalinda Celentano. The unique aspect that separates the plot in The Passion of the Christ from most other movies is the fact that many viewers believe the story to be true, and others say that it is all a lie. This adds mystery to the movie.
The storyline portrays the life, torture, and death of Jesus Christ. If you are unfamiliar with the life of Christ, he was born in a small town of Bethlehem, from a young woman named Mary. Jesus was also God, as there are three divine parts to God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He came to Earth to save humanity from their sins. God gave the ultimate sacrifice by sending his only son to live and die as a human for the life of humanity.
The effects in the passion are truly stunning. Since what happens in the movie is gruesome in parts, it is rated R. This is because there is a large amount of gore and violence. However, it isn't an entirely brutal movie, since it portrays a subject that many viewers hold to be true. It is a very interesting movie. It isn't all violence and torture, as there is deep meaning behind many of the scenes.
Overall, The Passion of the Christ is a very intriguing movie. For many viewers, even though it is a violent movie, it can actually be inspirational if you believe in the content of the movie. In essence, the story is very beautiful, of God sending His only son to save humanity. The special effects in the movie hit the nail on the head, the story line will keep you on the edge of your seat, and it will be viewed for many years to come.
