It wasn't a day
like any other-
It did not feel
ordinary,
unspecial.
Late summer, and our fights thick on the walls,
buzzing in my head, angry bees
stinging confusion
and painful memories falling on deaf ears.
I do not remember my morning routines,
I think I scorched my tea,
I know I was clumsy.
I cried for hours, called into work sick
ate nothing sobbed some more
stared at the vacant place,
at where you were not, and I
tried to lose myself in your fading scent.
I remember wondering if this reaction was normal,
to feel so bereft.
You didn't call me. You had cut me out
like I was some unwanted bone
some poison you were relieved
to leave behind.
You never looked back,
You were looking forward to the future
and you saw me as such a chain,
and I was left to starve my heart out,
and I felt like it was the end of the world,
and that knowledge cut too deep:
it was not an ending I wanted...
It was supposed to be
a beautiful beginning.

Poetry: He left her today
"He Left Her Today"
She held her wedding ring, looking carefully
At the ring's pretty stone
Every few minutes she looked at
She walks silently
up and down the hills
creating a new form of art
without lingering, as his kisses have vanished
The Big Mistake
She wonders where her journey ends
Pondering faces everywhere
She looks for love in lonely places
Wondering
It wasn't a day
like any other-
It did not feel
ordinary,
unspecial.

The shades were drawn against the sunlight leaving eerie shadows in the room.
