Gift ideas for the sick and hospitalized

Gifts for the sick or hospitalized can come in many forms.  The Gifts given  can actually boost the healing process or at least add a sense of comfort that is associated with empathy.  Gifts from the heart, such as time or personal involvement with the bed bound or hospitalized friend or loved one, can never be replaced by material gifts.

A time honored gift is a get well card or thinking of you card, even more special if you take the time to personalize it.    If you have ever been sick or in the hospital, you know how nice it feels when someone shows you a kind act of caring.  Just the thought that you are not suffering alone can do wonders to help you feel better and get well sooner.  It might be you are not one to think of different things to do for someone on the receiving end but would like to contribute some way to their well-being. A person can give many gifts without spending money. Gifts from the heart are priceless and are such a blessing not only to the one receiving but also to the one giving. For those who have a creative nature, here are a few ideas to help motivate you as the giver to someone who is sick or hospitalized.  Sending cards and letters is fast becoming a lost art.  Homemade get-well cards or thinking of you cards can bring a little sunshine to a person that is  in a hospital bed or sick at home.  Everyone likes to hear from family, friends, or well-wishers via letters and cards.  You do not have to have a degree for being creative.  Think and ponder, ideas will come to you for making that heart felt homemade treasure.  Let the little ones help.  It not only teaches them to think of others, but it teaches them to be creative.

You may want to purchase a basket at a thrift store.  Decorate or paint the basket and then fill it with puzzle books, playing cards, and lotion.  You may want to add  toothpaste and brush, a brush and comb, and a good book to read.  Homemade snacks and fruits can be added as well as a variety of juice drinks.  Home bound individuals may appreciate their house cleaned or a prepared meal for a few days.  A gift of just a simple phone call can help break up a long day of being sick or being away from the home. Phone calls are a way to say hello, without making those that are sick or in the hospital feel they have to entertain a personal visit. It can be a short call or if the person involved wants to do
