There are many reasons that young boy needs the father figure in their life there are certain qualities that only a man can provide in terms of parenting a young boy. Usually these have to do with the integrity of being a man in a very discernible way. Young boys look for direction regarding how to conduct themselves in social situations. Acting with integrity and honor in a society that is often desirable can be very difficult. Without the influence of a father figure, many young boys mirror image what they see on television as proper behavior.
More than any other time in history, the role of a father is very important. In earlier generations the father figure was responsible for teaching discipline and respect. Now, with so many absent fathers young boys are forgetting to learn the principles of respectable behavior and having a positive way of speaking to each other. Keeping your word is something that men in previous times throughout our society were very particular about. When a man is present in the home, young boys learn how to be respectful of authority figures as well as women.
Hard work and providing for a family is another thing that young boys will learn from a father figure. This is not to say that mothers cannot support a family however, the general consensus within society is that men are generally considered the financial provider within the home. Protecting your family from physical and emotional harm is another thing that young boys learn from their fathers. Statistics show that male influences help to keep the child out of legal issues. Furthermore, children that have difficulty learning in school tend to do better when both parents are involved in the educational process.
Learning financial control usually is easier when a boy is used to seeing his father consistently bring home a paycheck to his family. Quality time between fathers and sons is important in explaining that it is acceptable for men to show emotion. When a father figure is not present in the home, most boys are conditioned to believe they are not allowed to have feeling. If father is sharing his feelings with the child on a regular basis, emotional development progresses much better for the child
Generally speaking a father figure provides consistency within the home environment. The ways of being both a husband and a father cannot be the instructed unless there is a consistent example of what a family man should be in the home environment. Children need both genders as influences so that they grow up to be emotionally well rounded adults who are capable of making a positive impact upon the world around them.
