Those Words
They were covered in thick dust,
those words we flung at each other last night.
They mocked my foolish trust
and drove me out to find the moon's soft light.
Those words were cold, dark waves
that crashed against my heart. They echo still.
Ah, we're such willing slaves
to those sad words, even knowing how they kill.

It was a silly argument,
we let it go too far,
I never should have uttered,
"Let me out of this damn car!"
My anger was
They saw each other at noon, every day of every week.
To take their meal, side by side, at the bleak cafe in town.
The arrogant
"Calm Down?" I shouted
As I leapt from the chair. "Calm Down?"
I screamed, voice piercing the air.
