TV Character Themed Birthday

TV character themed birthday party lends itself to a costume party. Have each person come as their favorite television character. You can imagine the half a century of ideas that exist.

Accessories

These are almost limitless. You can make a large guest sign in card that looks like a television and all the guests sign the screen. The napkins would include a mixture of black and white and vivid colors. Alternatively, you could use black and white plates and silverware and have napkins in multiple colors

Emmy Influence

If the birthday is during the month of the Emmy presentation, you can have the Emmy show be a part of the evening program or have it at least playing in the background. You might even have a small red carpet near the door and make a red carpet video for a party gift from all the guests to the birthday person. A friend might make the perfect Joan Rivers or other celebrity interviewer for the guests as they enter the party. A party version of the Emmy awards could occur. You could place the guests in competitions according to their characters and than the group would vote as the evening goes along. At the end of the evening you present the Emmy Awards and have everyone accept the award in character. Imagine the remarkable speeches. If you still have room on the video, you have a full Emmy award show video. Maybe all the guests will want a copy as a party favor

Entertainment

Have a television trivia question for each year of someone’s life. As the dates are ruled out than, it will help solve the trivia questions. You would than figure out the age of the individual having the birthday.

You could have a karaoke machine that guests would sing. TV theme songs such as facts or Love Boat. The other guests would attempt to figure out the theme song and its show. This could lead up to the presentation of the gifts.

Gifts

Adults rarely need gifts, but these could add to the evening. Have each guest bring a novelty gift that he or she thinks the character would bring such as Hawkeye from Mash would probably bring a Martini glass. Who knows what the doctors from Grey’s Anatomy would bring, but we know we have one true star and that is the birthday person. Don’t they belong on the small screen?

Cake

The photograph cakes of today lends easily to this theme, you can have a black framed cake with a picture of the birthday person with buttons for controls. The wording on the cake would be the number one new character of the year they were born. You would than have a 1 candle on the cake rather than a candle for each year or the numbers spelled out.

A birthday party for adults provides the opportunity to have playful fun. Just as children, pretend adults can and remember the best television of birthday honoree’s life.
