Reflections: How do I know if I'm born for greatness?

How do you know if you were born for greatness? Well, first start by asking yourself a few questions.  Are you alive? Is there is record of your birth? Do you walk on the planet earth? If you answered yes to any, and hopefully all of these questions, then you were born for greatness. Of course you were, because all people, that ever have been born or ever will be born, are born for greatness.

Not every person is born into the ideal life situation with loving parents.  Many children are born to be orphans, born into poverty, or born into less than perfect family situations. Out of a person’s mere existence from the moment their life begins, they are born for greatness, no matter what their state in life. Every person has the potential for greatness. It is up to each person to decide for themselves, whether or not they will choose to rise up in their life situation, in order to serve those around them.  In serving others, people can actualize the greatness for which they are born.

Lives are not merely considered great because of the physicality of one’s upbringing. The environment, the materials, are not what enables a person to be great. Mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects play an enormous role in the fulfillment of one’s life. The greatness, that a person’s life naturally possesses, can begin to flourish when they are able to recognize this propensity for goodness within themselves and cultivate it. The great paradox lies in the fact that the more a person gives of themselves, the happier they are, therefore, the greater they become. People can overcome adversities in life, mental, emotional, and spiritual difficulties by caring for, helping, and assisting other people around them, by whatever means possible for them.

Many people that have grown up and are growing up in difficult circumstances, make the best of the card that is dealt to them, so to speak. While, other people, who grow up in so-called better environments, are not faring as well, as their less privileged counterparts. Some people have better role models to follow, and others have poor or no role models to follow at all. Yes, other people do play a part in a person’s road to greatness, yet they are not the be-all and end-all to another person, whom is striving for greatness. When a person is able to look beyond themselves to see another, that is when their greatness is revealed to them.

Each person has within themselves the ability to surpass all obstacles that life throws at them. Even the situations in life, which may seem the toughest to deal with, such as poverty, broken families, lack of love in surroundings, it is still possible for a person to break through these barriers and come out on the side of greatness. Just face it, you were born for greatness!
