While one might not originally consider our 'wild west' to be a very romantic place to honeymoon, the truth is that we have many beautiful hotels with pristine environmental surroundings that will quickly remind you just how beautiful our side of the world can be.

Edmonton, the capital city, is home to the biggest indoor amusement center in the world.  With over 800 stores to explore and over 100 dining establishments, West Edmonton Mall is the great place to get away if you are looking for a unique shopping experience filled with fun and adventure.  Fantasy Land Hotel is connect right to the mall and offers day passes for the many amenities (such as the water park, mini golf and an amusement park) and over 120 luxury theme rooms to create a sense of travelling abroad. 

The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel is a beautiful place to honeymoon.  Since the majestic Rocky Mountains are so close to this destination the environmental beauty will more than take your breath away.  This hotel has a heated outdoor pool that is the very essence of romance when accompanied by a light snowfall at night.  With millions of stars twinkling above this secluded pool is generally not very busy in the evenings and can offer a perfect place to unwind and relax in complete peace and serenity.  Also, just outside of Banff are the natural hot springs that are often boasted of having healing properties. 

Jasper National Park is protected by the government and all local wildlife is left undisturbed.  If you are more adventurous this town can offer many outdoor activities since it is located in the heart of the Rockies.  There are many outdoor activities to do together like riding horses through mountain trails, river rafting, hiking, biking, bird watching and swimming.  In the summer the flora of this area is blooms in a myriad of colour to create a landscape fit for Van Gogh.   The town of Jasper has a very historic feel as many of the buildings are older and offer a fairytale environment to accompany you on your honeymoon.  Lake Louise is also a great place to get away to nature both in the summer and winter months. In the winter, you can find some of the best skiing here as well as a secluded place to enjoy each other's company.  There are often festivals and activities you can join like skating or ice sculpting. 

For a more Urban feel, Calgary has all the amenities of any large city.  They too are located quite close to the mountains for a breathtaking view from the comfort of your hotel.  Calgary offers lots of shopping as well as relaxing spas, theaters, casino's and restaurants.  As a cultural area, you can find a creative feel to many of the streets which celebrate art and culture.  Calgary is an urban way to experience the natural beauty of Alberta. 

Even though Alberta is not on the list of exotic places to honeymoon, we do have a wide variety of activities and amenities to amuse, entertain and enthrall you.  We are romantic, adventurous and love the outdoors.  While you're here you won't be able to help falling in love all over again.
