Explaining Witchcraft is not exactly an easy thing.  Like any religion 'Witchcraft' is a broad spectrum idea that covers a lot of bases.  The overall practice of wicca can be called Witchcraft, or just Craft.  There are dozens of catagories that fall under Witchcraft.  There are the various elements, gods/goddesses that an individual person can follow, levels of spiritualitiy that people come to.

The first and foremost thing I would say is that people who assume Witchcraft is evil really do not know anything about Witchcraft at all.  A big rule of Witchcraft is that whatever you do will come back on you by three.  And a wise witch never wants to do evil and have it visited upon them later in the form of bad karama or bad luck.  People outside of wicca, or Witchcraft, do not seem to understand this.  Even in this day and age I have had people ask me if I have anything to do with the Devil.  It is a rare question, but I have gotten it before.  Witchcraft in general has a bad name throughout history.

Witchcraft is not a bad thing, it is not a person, it is an art.  Like any art it is controled by the higher powers that be and by the person practitioning within it.  Witchcraft is a collective base of knowledge that we, witches or wiccans, weed through and make use of.  Witchcraft is a tool to further our knowledge and abilities and spiritual connections.

Witchcraft can follow various avenues of practice.  There are people who follow the path of a Green Witch, or an Earth Witch, people who feel a greater connection to the earth.  There are those who use a broad spectrum practice, such as myself.  I work in several areas of Witchcraft, such as building up my Book of Shadows, the Tarot, Herbs, and several other things.  There are spells of course involved in Witchcraft, but it is not that simple.  Spells are things to be taken in causion and are not as simple as people like to think.  There are symbols and blessings and so many other things to Witchcraft.

Witchcraft is a beautiful practice that can bring all sorts of great change to a person's life and I love being a part of it.
