Keeping in touch with family, friends, and co-workers has never been easier with Twitter. Twitter has become one of the fastest growing social networks, but there are many who have yet to learn the basics of Twittering. This guide is for them.
Using Twitter is easy, fun, and takes very little time to learn. This guide will take you through the basics of setting up a Twitter account and posting your first Tweet.
1) Create an account. Go to Twitter.com and click on the “Sign up now” button. New users will then be prompted to fill in the following information:
You’ve just created your new Twitter account. Shortly, you’ll be receiving a message via the email address you provided asking you to authenticate your account by clicking on the link provided. After that, you’ll receive a welcome email with a link to help you add Twitter to your phone and another link to help you invite your family and friends.
2) Check your settings. Click on “settings” at the upper right corner of the screen. Here you will be able to review and make changes to your account including changes to your profile, mobile phone, email notifications, and even the background design of your profile page. Here is where you’ll also want to upload your favorite picture that will be used as the image whenever you tweet.
3) Follow your family, friends, and co-workers. Click on “Find People” at the upper right corner of the screen. If you know their email addresses, enter the info on the “Invite By Email” tab. If you have a contact list on Gmail, Yahoo!, or AOL, you can upload it using the “Find Friends” tab. If you don’t know anything else but their name, click on the “Find of Twitter” tab.
