Frequently portrayed as the weapon of choice for angry housewives worldwide, the rolling pin is also a traditional symbol of a mothers love and dedication for her family, and her home. Generally made from wood, stainless steel, glass, marble, aluminum or plastic, rolling pins reside in most kitchens. Antique rolling pins are generally handed down within the family, but due their bulky size they may often wind up tucked away within a kitchen drawer, and out of sight.

A unique or antique rolling pin can greatly enhance the decor of any kitchen, so getting it out of the drawer, and on display is always a wise decision to make. If you have managed to acquire a number of these then it becomes even more important to get your rolling pin collection out where others are able to view it. Rolling pins can be beautiful but they are also big and bulky. So the question is: How do you display a rolling pin collection?

Displaying your collection is really not that difficult but it does all depend upon the number of rolling pins within it. A simple grooved wooden nesting block can very nicely display one or two rolling pins within the china cabinet, on the top of your counter, or chopping block. But if you have a large collection than this is where your creativity comes into play. You need to combine them in groups or sprinkle them throughout the room in an eye catching manner.

The great thing about rolling pins is the unique heritage behind them. This makes showcasing them actually very easy, a rustic display rack will work just as well as a new, or more modern method of display. So do not be afraid to scout out thrift stores, or garage sales, to acquire your racks, stands, and holders. Allow your creativity and imagination to go a little on the wild side when you are out shopping for your display pieces.

To wall display your collection, curtain brackets can be used to hang individual rolling pins, or wire slings (similar to plate holders) can be used to display specific groupings of rolling pins. An old plant, or spice rack can be converted into a display case for your rolling pins. So long as your hanger has brackets at either end to hold the handles of your rolling pin, then it can be used as a display rack for your collection, so be creative. If you do stumble upon old store fixtures, many of these are excellent for use as a showcase stand for collectibles, so keep your eyes open for suitable pieces.

Floor space can also be used, and rolling pins can be placed within wire, or wood wine racks for floor display. They actually nestle nicely within most wine racks and the wide variety of sizes and shapes of these storage units make for a delightful method to display virtually any rolling pin collection. Your method of display will depend largely on the size of your collection.

Glass cases, cabinets, tables, or window boxes can be used to highlight very unique rolling pins. While a simple leather noose, or straps, can be used to dangle antique wooden ones from the wall. Let your creativity guide you. The hearth and home image of a well seasoned rolling pin really helps in the display of these pieces, they pretty much showcase themselves, you have only to add the holder.
