The enemies of Christian character
It is exactly this kind of topic that gets me into trouble, every time. Why, you ask? Well, I suppose I will tell you. In my humble, but long-winded opinion, the enemies of Christian character are Christians themselves. A religion that has "Thou shall not kill" as one of its most basic beliefs, is the one institution that bears responsibility for more deaths than any other in the history of the world, including the Nazi Party of Germany.
"Wrong!" you shout from your pulpit. "The Christian faith is one of peace!"
And I say right back to you, "Bull expletive!”
The entire history of Monotheism is one of blood and fire. Starting as far back as the Jews in Egypt. It was the single God of the Jews, setting himself above the Gods of Egypt, as Gods are wont to do, that caused Moses to kill and terrorize many an innocent Egyptian with his plagues, when his argument was with the government. The beginnings of terrorism, lo and behold. Frightening the average citizen into seeing things your way. Shameful!
And all caused by a Single God. Yes, I know, the Jews have been plagued by terrorism for years. Well, in my view of the world, they just may deserve it. This doesn't mean I don't like the Jews. I like or dislike them no more, nor no less, than I do any member of any modern religion. They are just humans trying to get by as best they can in a harsh world. I understand, and accept that. But, their God did invent the concept of terrorism, and used it to great advantage. As far as I can tell, it is the only time in history that terrorism actually achieved its goal. That may be, however, why terrorism continues to exist today. If it can work once, it can work again. Thank the Gods that Osama Bin Laden and his cronies don't have the power of God at their fingertips, as did Moses. At least, not yet.
Let us move forward in time, again; to the beginnings of Christianity; the newest in monotheistic religions, at least at the time. Another would come forth later, just to totally mess with the minds of those who are Monotheistic in spiritual temperament.
But this time, it is the single God version of life that is wrong, not the Pagan world of Gods and Goddesses, which had served more societies through thousands of years. This time it was a monotheistic religion attacking another. Their version of the truth is not the right truth, they said. This is the right truth. This man named Jesus has all the answers, just as Moses had them years before.
