Modern Menace
They're slim, streamlined and a bloody nuisance to use, yes you've guessed it today I am reporting on the multi million pound market that breaks every 30 seconds, gadgets.
Is anybody else getting tired of this worldwide fad that started with pocket phones the size of houses? People are buying gadgets for increasingly stupid reasons, I mean who wants a machine so small you can hardly see it and so smooth you drop it every time you pick it up! The very reason for gadgets is farcical, in fact they don't make our life easier at all, they make funny noises at bad times, help us avoid any social contact, and waste hours as we sit on hold to a help line trying to get them fixed.
For example mobile phones are possibly the most tedious man made atrocity to have ever been created, packed with dodgy ring tones, awful games and the ability to allow your mother or wife to contact you wherever you are. Men with mobile phones glued to their ears, no matter how hard they are attempting to be cool simply come across as arrogant, anti social, idiots not to mention they are ones who get robbed (thank god, anything to get those gizmos away from their ears). However they do have their uses, for example a tremendous cure for boredom is throwing small harmless objects at them on the trains or buses, the reaction you get is erm very amusing to say the least.
If there is any thing that is going to cause the world to grind to a slow and painful halt, its portable video games. Now anything can be blamed on these things from the increase in gun crime to the quickly rising price of bread and cheese. Kids playing on these expensive, addictive and incredibly boring gadgets not only waste time shooting images of deformed animals but when they pick up a real gun they see nothing wrong with shooting people. The persuasive powers of these super boxes know no end. Kids in this digital age seem not to know the boundaries between gaming and reality, in my opinion it wont be long until we see a child jumping on a lion because that's what he's been doing on the latest Mario game. What ever happened to good old Pac man and creative play, you don't see kids dangling upside down from trees enough anymore, it's a shame really.
Modern societies has a love of the newest fad on the market, this love of I pods seems to be never ending. Recently it has become a rarity to see a person walking down the street with out some sort of electronically created drivel beating their ears to shreds. I remember back in the day when people used to talk and interact on trams and other forms of public transport. Instead those of us social enough to not have headphones lodged in our ears have to listen to the energy zapping crap coming out of the headphones of other people. However I pods are one of the better products the gadget industry has belched out, giving us access to our entire record collection with a whiz of a wheel and saving us from hours of tedious conversation with that old lady sat next to us, for this apple we salute you.
At overrated we would be the first to admit that gadgets are not totally bad, for where would we be without necessities such as pocket calculators and rape alarms. Well for starters we would be totally skint and the population would have grown out of proportion. Our love of gadgets has been around since the very start of time when we began playing with rocks and making fire with twigs in some ways these gadgets were much more amusing than the slim pebble shaped gadgets we have today. Lets be honest not much else is as fun as banging rocks on trees but now for this purpose we have power tools, the one form of gadget which is not overrated.
