I joined Helium as an alternative to blogging. I tried the latter but was unable to provide the daily entries that truly make it worthwhile. I think in this format I'll be able to just "speak" without the pressure of being or feeling judged...even though others may read the material. Several years ago I kept up a daily journal/memoirs that were lost to me when I was abruptly downsized from my job. I wish that I could recover those writings to compare them with how I feel now. Never in my life did I dream that I would be facing the situations and experiences I've weathered since that day my manager called me into a conference room and basically fired me. The official explanation was that my position was being eliminated from the company. Although I received severance, unemployment and career counseling...I still have yet to recover from that blow.

What I wish is that someone had given me warning or that there had been warning signs. I truly believe that had I been given ample opportunity to first find another job, I would be fine. As it stands my wishes, dreams, and desires have been shattered. I understand in theory that I'm still young & will have the opportuntity to recover and hopefully redirect my life in a positive way...unfortunately I am not a patient person and things are simply taking much too long for my liking.

My wishes are simple...in my estimation anyway. A career, not a job. A relationship of respect, love, and partnership. The ability to support myself comfortably, i.e., tithe, pay all of my bills in full & ontime, save, travel, keep my home & car in good repair, be healthy and content with my life, help my family. The hardships of the past few years are insignificant when compared with the majority of those faced by the masses but they are mine.
