If you live in or near the Columbus, Ohio area you may wonder how you can make a few extra dollars to keep up with the expenses of living. Columbus and all of Ohio is a very afordable area to live in when compared to larger cities out of state, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't hurt to make some extra cash. So, how do you do it?
CONSIGNMENT STORES - A great way to de-clutter your home as well as make some extra cash is selling your goods on consignment. WHen you consign items, whether they are furniture items or clothing, the items still belong to you. Typically, you will sign a contract that the consignment store will hold your item in their store for a certain amount of time and for an agreed upon price. Once the item sells, usually, the owner (you) will receive at least 50% of the selling price. This is a great way to get rid of some things you no longer need or want. Some great consignement stores for furniture are: ReVue (Grandview Mercantile), located at 873 North High Street. Also, on 5th Avenue in the Grandview area, there are a few stores there as well: Fifth Avenue Furnishings, and One More Time, Etc. Some clothing consignment stores are One More Time (next to the furniture store by the same name mentioned before), Second Chance, which is also located on 5th Avenue.
SELL PLASMA - I know, not a great way to make money but if you aren't too squeamish, you can make about $35 each time you give and you are helping someone who needs it. It does take some time, a few hours, but a fairly easy way to make money. I have not done this myself, but in a college town I have known some who have done it and say it hurts a little, but it's not too bad. One center is ZLB Plasma Service, located at 2650 North High Street.
TASTE TESTER - This one seems like a great way to make some extra cash. By being a taste-tester for Spencer Research, you get to taste-test food and candies for market research and provide your opinion - and you get paid! It is located at 1290 Grandview Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43212. You can make between $10-40 for 20-45 minutes of your time. Yum...
PART TIME CONCESSIONS - This is a great one - and I have done it. I worked for Aramark during the Columbus Crew soccer team season selling beer in a concession booth during the home games. It was great! Minimal work and you get to watch every home game - and get paid for it!
