How to make money online by selling your artwork

Unfortunately, artists are very underpaid and it is hard in our society to make a living being an artist.  I feel that talented artists should be able to share their talents with the world, but it can be very hard.  With the onslaught of ways to sell online, many artists are finding ways to get their art out to the public and even make a living at it too.

ETSY - www.etsy.com.  Etsy is a great place to sell your artwork in any type of medium.  The site is very popular and if you are willing to promote yourself a little bit, you will find that you will do very well.  Etsy has a very simple set-up:  Sign up, create your online "shop," and only pay 20 cents per post.  It is up to you how you want your items to be represented because you upload your pictures of the artwork.  Once the item sells, you mail it out and charge the customer for shipping.  You can promote your shop on the Etsy website, facebook, twitter, myspace or any way you can manage.

DEVIANT ART - www.deviantart.com.  Deviant Art is all about art and artists.  You create your own profile, show off your art gallery of works and can share or sell them online.  I am unsure of the cost of selling your artwork, but I do know that this is the place artists will find other artists.

ZAZZLE - www.zazzle.com.  Zazzle has a different way of getting your art to the world.  You come up with the art, they provide the item the art will go on.  For example, you have a design or picture and you can sell it to go on mugs, hats, even skateboards!  This provides a great way to market your art as wearable art for the world to see.

IMAGE KIND - www.imagekind.com.  This site seems like a great community for artists. You become a member for free and upload your art, then sell prints of your art to customers through the Image Kind website.  THey will ship and deliver as well as frame it for the customer.  This is a great way to share your art without the hassle of shipping it and framing it.

If you are an artist, don't fret - you can make a quasi-living or an altogether-living off selling your art online.  Just remember, never give up the rights of your artwork and promote yourself anyway you can and you will be sure to succeed.  Making a living doing something you love is the best reward to yourself!
