Elegance, style, fem, collecting vintage clothing is a rummagers dream.  Whether you are looking for a great vintage cocktail dress or some seventies bell bottoms, you really have to search to find great, affordable pieces to add to your wardrobe.  In the Columbus, Ohio area, there are many vintage clothing boutiques and I will also reveal some of my favorite "hiding spots" where I always score big in the vintage clothing department.

If you are in the Clintonville area a great place to stop is "Mad 4 Mod."  Not only to they have an expansive furniture and tsotchkes floor, full of collectible goodies and kitschy items; but, if you go downstairs it is a vintage clothing collector's hideaway.  The basement is filled to the brim with dresses, pants, accessories, in both women and men styles.  You can find great vintage clothes from the fifties to the eighties, with some older pieces mixed in.  You will have to rummage a bit because they have a wide variety of items, but it is well worth it to find a great piece.  It is located at 3292 North High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43202, located in the Clintonville area.

If you travel down High Street a bit, you will find "Nostalgia," a great thrift store full of vintage to newer clothing.  It is located at 1195 North High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43201.  You will have to dig some to find what you are looking for but the staff is helpful and will help you find what you need.

Rag-O-Rama, located also on High Street, at 3301 North High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43202, near "Mad 4 Mod."  This is an ultra-hip little boutique that only puts out the best items.  This is a great place to find punker-wear, eighties and seventies clothing, great accessories and vintage t-shirts.  Also, the way they operate is cool - you can sell or trade your clothes for money or store credit.  The catch is they are ultra-picky, but they provide you with the best of the best selection.  They also carry great Halloween costumes around September to October.  This is by far a favorite of mine.  They also carry newer items.

Okay, for my secret places, here we go. Thrift stores!  It's that easy.  I find the greatest and cheapest vintage clothes shopping at larger chain thrift stores.  The best ones that carry vintage clothes are Salvation Army stores and Volunteers of America.  Ohio Thrift Stores tends not to carry as many vintage items.  I just got back from
