Is affiliate marketing, or mlm marketing better?

Other than marketing your own products, there are really two alternatives to make an income on the web. Those would be Multi Level Marketing or Affiliate Marketing.

If you are planning on doing Affiliate marketing, you are selling someone else's product or products, and making a commission  which is your profit.

The second is MLM - (Multi Level Marketing) and it is greatly different in every way possible. As a general rule, you are not "selling" anything. You are marketing a plan whereby you normally get paid to bring in another person, who then does the same thing over again.

Both methods have the same problem in that one thing can stop them both dead in their tracks...A LACK OF TRAFFIC! With no traffic, neither one of those systems will produce a dollar, much less a steady income stream.

Now the good thing of Affiliate Marketing is that there are plenty of products on the Internet for you to sell. And I do mean PLENTY!

If you don't know about ClickBank, or Paydot.com or CBEngine, you better become familiar with them. They are always actively looking for Affiliates to market items for other people. On average, the commissions are very good and they have been doing it for a long time. (All three of them have.) There are more than just those three, but I feel comfortable to say they are the largest.

They are all free to sign up with. Working with all of them is very easy, and getting started is quite simple. Then you just go through and pick out products you are either familiar with or would be interested in marketing, and have at it.

You don't even have to have a web site to do it. I will say that I think it helps, but it is not positively necessary. Most likely you should have a Blog as you will need a place to have your customers land when they want to take a look at what you are promoting! (Most Blogs are free and simple to set up!)

Moving on now to MLM. The difference is primarily that you are not actually marketing an "item or product" with multi level marketing. You are selling a program or a plan which aggressively "recruits" other members to join and that goes on forever.

A person joins this program and is called your "down-line", and you get paid. When when they "solicit" another person, they also get paid and you get a piece of the new person too! That usually
