Treasure Madness is a popular Facebook application created by zSlide, a company which creates and publishes social video games. Treasure Madness lets you become a treasure hunter, digging up entire islands in the quest for gold, supplies, equipment, experience, and treasures. Despite the seemingly simple nature of this game, it does require some strategy to take fullest advantage of it. This article will provide you some tips and tricks to use in order to become an experienced and successful Treasure Madness player.
In no particular order, here are some of the best tips that we can provide you with for Treasure Madness:
Equipment counts: you start the game with a simple shovel that you can upgrade. You can buy equipment later on for jungle, stone, water, and swamp terrain. Over time, the maps that you get access to will contain most or all of these types of terrain. You will need to gain experience in order to unlock these items, so make the most of what you can do with each type of equipment until you are able to use the next piece of equipment. Equipment can also be upgraded by using Museum dollars. The upgrades are very worthwhile as you get more experience in the game because they allow you to search the maps faster.
Gold counts: gold is what you use to buy most of your equipment, items and maps in the early days of your adventuring. Look for maps that specialize in gold (i.e. the Golden series) if you need more gold. The other option is to look at Gold density on the maps that you’re going to use (see below).
Items extend the game: more of these become available as you gain levels. They are all available for gold. We can’t overstress the importance of gold in Treasure Madness because treasures and other important items can be hidden in locked sections of the map. You need gold to buy items, equipment, and maps. Note: some items can be sent to you by your team members (more on those later).
Maps are not all the same: some maps have many different types of terrain, so the equipment that you have available to you will dictate how successful you can be on these maps. Also, note that each map has Treasure density and Gold density, which dictate how likely it is that you’ll find these things on the map. Hint: unlikely means you probably won’t find any. Very high, on the other hand, seems to correlate to a 25 to 40 percent chance that you find something each time you dig up a square on the map (note: this is a rough estimate and has not been proven to be completely accurate). The other densities are usually somewhere in between these two extremes.
Treasures give health points and Museum dollars: whenever you get a mini-game puzzle (there are at least half a dozen of them), you will get treasure or an unlocking item after you successfully solve the puzzle. Treasures are available in sets and, when you get a complete set, it can be traded in for Museum dollars, which become very important as the game continues on. This is an important source of Museum dollars.
Museum dollars extend the game even further: you can use these rewards to upgrade your equipment, buy maps, or buy special Health kits that give you 20% more health than normal ones do. Museum dollars come from: gaining a new level; from completing a map; from securing a collection of treasures with the museum; or from buying them via a credit card or by PayPal. Unless you have a lot of time and patience, you may find yourself buying Museum dollars. If so, the best tip we can give you is to wait for a sale. We have seen Museum dollars available for sale from between 25% to 75% off the regular price. In our experience, we have seen sales occurring around holidays and special events. Keep your eyes open for sales if you’re a hard-core player who wants to collect everything.
Fruit, health kits and replenishing your health: these should be used carefully. Each piece of fruit will restore between 10 to 50 health points, up to your maximum health. The same is true for health kits. Unless you buy a health kit using Museum dollars, your health kit will only replenish up to your maximum health. Therefore, you should generally use health kits of any kind when you are nearly out of health. There is one possible exception to this: when you level up.
Leveling up: you will gain at least one XP (experience points) when you dig on a square of the map. You will get additional experience when you dig up gold, fruit, or a treasure (assuming that you successfully solve the mini-game puzzle that appears on the screen). Your experience bar tracks how close you are to leveling up: each level requires 300 experience points so that you can progress to the next level. If you don’t need very many experience points to level up, don’t use a health kit and use fruit sparingly. It’s better to wait for the necessary health points to accumulate instead of wasting a valuable resource. Major tip: your health points are completely replenished when you gain a new level!
Mini-games: these skill tests that must be solved in order to get a treasure. They all start out fairly easy and then get harder as you progress in skill and experience. You will gain fruit as additional bonus prizes if you solve mini-games quickly. Here’s an important tip: you don’t have to use the first mini-game that appears if you have enough health points. You might want to try switching to a different mini-game if you aren’t very good at the one you get at first.
Teams: our final tip and trick is teams. You can invite your Facebook friends to join your team. The main advantage of being part of a team is to collect treasure collections more quickly. You can trade your spare items (it’s possible to have multiple copies of an item) with your team members. If you are generous and trustworthy, they will trade their spares with you. There is no question that the fastest way to complete your treasure collections is to trade items with other players. Use it, but don’t abuse it. If you are looking for other Treasure Madness players for your team, check out the Treasure Madness page on Facebook, which you can find by clicking on the Fans! Tab near the top of the screen. You can look at the discussion board messages to find team members – people are regularly looking for more team members.
We hope that this collection of tips and tricks for Treasure Madness, the popular Facebook game, is helpful for you!
