Tim smiled nervously in the direction of his wife.
Wife? He repeated it to himself, letting the words roll around his mind, testing them out. It was weird to think that that morning he had had a girlfriend and now, he had a wife.
And he was a husband.
Tim stared at Fiona, the ecstatic happiness that filled him all down to her. She was his life, ever since they had met in Kindergarten his world had revolved around her.
And that smile.
He vowed then and there never to let that smile fade, never to allow the sparkle behind her green eyes to go out. Fiona’s happiness would forever go before Tim’s and he couldn’t have been happier about that. He truly was happy if she was happy.
Fiona looked at him then, catching him staring. She floated towards him, her white dress making her look nothing short of angelic. Her brown hair was knotted elaborately at the back of her head; one elegant strand had strayed away from the knot and hung delicately in front of her face.

“I should have known a pretty girl like you wouldn’t be single. Who’s the lucky guy?” Tim asked laughingly, he leant closer towards her, breathing in her faint lavender smell.
“Oh he’s around here somewhere, tall, handsome, looking mighty fine in a tux. I’m sure you’ve seen him.”
“That does sound familiar.” Tim’s eyebrows furrowed in pretend thought, a cheeky grin playing on his lips. Fiona laughed, the bell like sound charging the gap between them. She leaned towards him, tossing aside any pretence.
“I cannot wait to get you out of here and into bed.” She whispered slowly into his ear, savoring each last syllable.
His eyebrows arched, his grin turning exultant. His eyes darted around the crowded dance floor and surrounding tables as if an escape route would magically appear before his eyes.
Fiona continued, undeterred by the masses of people around them. “I saw a motel across the street...” She leaned away from him, her grin mischievous, and her intent obvious.
Tim didn’t need to be told twice he gripped her hand and walked purposefully towards the double doors leading out
