Most party goers receive party favors at children’s parties. What party favors can a host or hostess get for a good party bag? Children’s parties are almost always themed and most hosts and hostesses just give candy in a party bag as party favors. A host or hostess can fill a party bag with items that do not have to cost a fortune and are still fun for the children. Here are some ideas for a party bag at children’s parties that is not candy.

Bubbles - Bubbles are fun for almost any age. Bubbles can be purchased in a three pack for a dollar at Dollar Tree. This can be the only party favor in the party bag or the host and hostess can add more to the bag.

Yo-yo - Yo-yos are fun party favors. They can be put in the party bag by themselves or with other party favors. Party favors yo-yos usually come in packs of four or more. Some party favor yo-yo’s are themed. Themed yo-yos cost a little more than the plain yo-yos.

Crayons - Crayons can be used as party favors. If crayons are used as party favors coloring sheets, paper, or coloring books should be given as well. Crayons come as many as eight packs to a package and usually start at a dollar per pack. A unique party favor with crayons is to print the theme of the party for all the children at the party to color.

Pencils - Pencils are also good party favors. If pencils are used as party favors something else needs to be given as a party favor. Pencils and paper, or stationery with pencils are good party favors, especially for girls.

Pens - Pens can be used as party favors. Like pencils and crayons, something else should be given when a pen is used as a party favor. Diaries or stationery for girls are excellent choices to accompany pens.

Stationery or notebooks - Stationery or notebooks are great party favors to accompany pens. Even drawing pads are good for party favors. Some small notebooks come four to a pack. These notebooks also come themed. The stationery or notebooks can match the theme of the party and they can be purchased for as little as one dollar for a pack of four.

Dress-up jewelry - Dress up jewelry is good for children between four years old and eight years old. Jewelry is a hard party favor to give because if the party bag is given before the children are ready to go home, everyone will be comparing to see who got what. Then, the host or hostess may have to endure whining. The jewelry has to be the same if the bags will be given out while all the guests are together.

Hand-held games - Hand-held games can be purchased in packs of four or more. An example of a hand-held game is a paddle with a ball attached. Paddles and balls are packaged four for a dollar and come themed or plain. These are good to give before the party. While the children wait they can play their new game.

Themed party favors - Whatever store the party supplies were purchased at will also have the themed party favors. Themed party favors match the theme of the children’s party and are usually sold four or more to a package. Themed party favors cost $3.49 and up. Some themed party favors are sold in discount stores and they usually start at a dollar and go up.

The party favor can be given at the beginning of the party or as the children are leaving. The party favor should be age appropriate and thought out. Make the party favor that is given to the children at the party the talk for weeks to come.
