How do you know if a guy likes you? This is a question that girls of all ages have pondered since the beginning of time. The truth is, boys are complex creatures and no two are alike. There is no set rule to tell how a boy really feels about you, but there are subtle hints that, if read clearly, may give insight into the emotions behind the actions.

Typically, when a boy first notices a girls that he is interested in he cannot take his eyes off of her. He is extra alert when she is in the room and every time she walks by she is the sole focus of his attention. At this point the way a boy acts may vary. If the girl is not available for him to date of he believes she is out of his league, the relationship may end here. If, however, he believes that he has a chance with her, everything changes. He will do anything to be close to her, no matter how desperate it may make him seem. The shyer boys may try to get close by striking up a conversation with someone standing near the girl. This can easily cause confusion if the girl becomes jealous of the attention the boy is showing someone else, or if she thinks that he is simply not talking to her because he is not interested. More straight forward boys often waste no time beating around the bush. They go straight to the girl and try to start a conversation. At first these boys may come on a little strong but given time they often prove to be worthy guys.

After a conversation has been sustained, it gives the boy a more clear idea of how interested he really is in the girl. If the attraction fades as the conversation progresses then the chase ends and the boy will retreat to find a new target. But after a conversation if the boy still has feelings for a girl he will usually try to show these feelings by getting physically close to the girl. It could be as casual as a hug or an arm around the waist but this physical contact means everything to the boy, and he will try for it desperately if he finds a girl he is truly interested in. Once he attains physical contact, the boy will most likely ask to spend time alone with the girl, either by suggesting something casual like coffee or something more intimate like an official date. From here the guy and girl will be able to talk in a one to one setting and decide whether to move in the direction of a relationship or not.

These steps could take place all in one night or over a long period of time and they are not fool-proof because, as I mentioned earlier, boys are complex creatures with a wide range of emotions they often don’t even fully understand themselves. Hopefully these guidelines will provide some assistance to girls worldwide trying to decode the mystery of telling if a boy likes them.
