There are a variety of basic nursing procedures in health care. The procedures are performed by registered nurses, licensed practical and nurse assistants in a health care facility. The nursing procedure is performed by a nurse to provide appropriate care to ill or injured patients. A physician's order is obtained by a registered nurse to complete most basic nursing procedures. A registered nurse assigns tasks to licensed practical nurse to provide critical care to patients in a health care environment.
An admissions assessment is a nursing procedure completed by a registered nurse. The assessment is health history and gathered information about a new patient. The registered nurse will assess the patient's physical, education, and nutritional history to plan appropriate critical care. The assessment includes pain management, medications and medical history also. A care plan is completed by the registered nurse to provide treatment to the patient.The nurses provides treatment and care to the ill or injured patient in the hospital.
Nurses administer medications to patients in the hospital or a health care facility. A registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse administers oral and topical medication to ill or injured patients. The registered nurse educates patients and their families about the medications and treatment given.A physician's order must be obtain to administer medications to patients in a health care facility.
Vital signs includes temperature, pulse, blood pressure and pain management. Vital signs are monitored and recorded daily on all patients. Nurses must report abnormal vital signs to a physician or registered nurse immediately. Oxygen administration is a nursing procedure administered by a registered nurse or a physician. Oxygen is a odorless and tasteless gas administered to treat conditions and disorders during an emergency in the health care facility or hospital.
Venipuncture procedures is a nursing procedure performed by a registered nurse or practical nurse to obtain accurate blood test results. Nurses will assist patients with routine tasks such as bathing, dressing and feeding also. A licenced practical nurse monitors catheters and the patients intake and output. Nurses administer medications and record care plans to treat patients in a health care facility. Nurses must use sterile techniques to perform basic nursing procedures in a health care environment.
There are many basic nursing procedures performed such as catherization, intravenous fluids and administering medications. A registered nurse provides patient teaching to care for patients appropriately. The nursing procedure is performed by a registered nurse and licenced practical nurse in a health care environment.
