A Memorable Moment

As James went he heard a voice calling out from blow, "James did you make reservations for tonight?" the voice asked.

"Yes" he answered as he turned and looked down towards Winchester sitting at the bar pouring himself a cup of tea.

“Thank you James and good night ” Mr. Winchester replied.

Very well sir… good night” James replied.

“Good night”, Mr. Winchester answered, as he poured a cup of green tea from the pot James had left on the grey granite table top. As he took a sip of warm tea he looked for a moment at the picture of the Tower of London painted on the side of the tea pot and wonder,”  if  Queen Anne Boleyn and Sir Walter Raleigh were still roaming the halls of this dark castle?” The air in the house suddenly felt uncomfortably cold and damp. He turned to see his wife coming down the stairs, wearing her favorite parka that she had brought back with her from the Serengeti plains.

“Yes dear” he replied.

As she walked down the stairs she looked at him, standing by the door in his blue suede shoes, smoke coming from pipe and thought to her, “there was casual and then there was him!”

She continued to walk down the stair saying her good nights to James as he passed her on the staircase and walked over to the night table where Mr Winchesters was standing ,pipe smoke filling the air wirh an  familiar aroma.

“There is a letter here for you” he said to her.

She looked at the envelope... little curiously, she was not expecting any news from abroad. The contents could wait… until
