Woodcutting is one of the most popular skills in the game. Not only does raising your woodcutting level allow you to cut trees that are worth their weight in gold, you also get access to many different items including the coveted Woodcutting Skillcape.

Starting from levels 1-15 you should train on normal trees, which are really the only trees available for you to cut at this level. As soon as you hit level 15 start cutting oak trees. The best place to cut these are Draynor, and the Lumbridge Swamp. Once level 21 is obtained buy a Mithril Hatchet, this will greatly increase your Woodcutting speed. Continue on with Oak trees until around level 35. At this point you should buy an adamant hatchet and a rune hatchet.

Now that you have around level 35 woodcutting, head off to Draynor. Right behind the Draynor bank there are three willow trees, these trees will be the main source of experience for many levels. As soon as you can weild a rune hatchet, do so as rune hatchets are pretty much the best hatchets in the game. For non-members willow trees are the best experience, so continue to chop them all the way to level 99. If you want to make a lot more money but with the penalty of slower xp, then at around level 80 start chopping Yew trees, these are the best trees to chop for money in a non-members' server.

If you are a member, then continue on with willow trees all the way to level 70. At this point some of the greatest experience for woodcutting will be available. Head off to Varrock Castle, when you see the Yew trees go past them all the way until you stop at the bear cage. Right in front of the bear cage are some "choking ivy". What makes these amazing for woodcutting experience is that they give 332.5 xp when cut, and nothing appears in your inventory, allowing you to technically stay at the place forever. If you have the money then by level 70 you should buy a Dragon Hatchet, this will greatly increase your Woodcutting xp, but it is not necessary. Continue on with Choking Ivy until level 99 if you want to get the 99 quickly. If you are after money from Woodcutting then raise your Woodcutting level to around 80-90, then start chopping Magic trees. These trees give logs that are worth around 1.5-2k each, making them great money for woodcutters. The only downside is that Magic trees take forever to chop so the xp rate is horrible.
