The definition of flirting is to play at love, or act amorously without serious intentions. Before the internet was invented, most flirting was done in person, over the telephone or through traditional letter writing correspondence. Nowadays, with the popularity of using the internet and cellular phone text messaging to communicate, online flirting is another useful non-verbal communication tool. With the internet, you can be as personal or impersonal as you choose to be. The key to successfully flirting online is hold onto the attention of the object of your affection. Here are some tips about how to flirt your way into someone else’s heart:
If you meet someone on an internet dating website, or an internet message board or chat room, you should first look over their profile information to determine if they are someone who is worth even flirting with! Does his profile state he is a sports enthusiast and you aren’t even remotely interested in sports? If you don’t seem to have anything in common, don’t waste your precious time. Flirting is an art-form, and it shouldn’t be wasted on just any individual. Once you’ve determined that you share common interests, send him smile or a wink through the site. Many dating websites like InterracialDesires.net and Lavalife.com have these options where you can send a wink or smile for free, versus paying money on the site to send out an email.
After you’ve shown your interest, send her a complimentary email about her profile. Mentioning that you like her smile in her profile photo, or you admire her profession is a wonderfully flirtatious way to indicate your interest. Once she responds, you should keep the flirtatious banter going by asking questions about what she likes to do in her spare time and what she likes to do for fun. After she answers you, suggest a few fun things that the two of you can do together. She’ll get the picture!
When you flirt online, using the different letter fonts can help get your point across. For instance, typing I think you know what I mean can convey a suggestive undertone; with know being the word that stands out. Capital letters can help emphasize your point. For instance, I LOVE what you represent can have one meaning, and I love what YOU represent can have another meaning.
Another way to flirt online is to email cute jokes with subtle romantic messages to the man or woman you want to connect with. Sending an online greeting card through email with messages of warmth and affection is a wonderful way to flirt and make the object of your affection feel appreciated at the same time. As well, when you sign off an email, consider writing warmly, or hugs, instead of sincerely or yours truly. You want to come across as interested in the other person as possible. Always keep in mind that flirting is the first way to spark a potential blazing romantic fire.
