Is a conversion experience necessary for Christians? My answer to this question is yes, and here is why. All Christians know the exact time in their life when they became a Christian. This event may not be as dramatic in some people's lives as it is in others.

When we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, we are converting from our old, human ways, into a new creation in Christ Jesus. We change. This event is one of the most important events in our lives. Now, I do not think the question, "Is a conversion experience necessary for Christians", is the right question to ask. My reasoning behind that is this. All Christians go through a conversion. We are not just born Christians. Christianity is a journey, and that journey has to start somewhere.

Are we all going to have some miraculous event that causes us to convert? No, everyone has their own personal testimony and background. We all are different. What happens though, is we are all searching for answers, which can be found in Christianity. This is why many people convert. Now, I don't want to make it sound like conversions are no big deal. It is an amazing event when you convert to Christianity.

The story behind the conversion will be unique to each of us. God has a plan for our lives and this plan starts before we even become Christians. God puts people, places, and things in our lives to make us better. It is then our responsibility to change for the better. At the same time, Satan is always trying to destroy us by putting people, places, and things in our lives that are hurtful to us and others. When we become Christians, we are taken under God's protection.

Yes, Satan will still be prevalent in our lives, but we must reject him. God loves us so much that he lets us make the decisions. He doesn't want us to live like robots. He gives us the freedom to make these important decisions. The conversion is the first step. Now that I think about it, conversion seems like an odd word to use here. Technically, accepting Christ is a conversion, but I like to think of it more as a personal improvement. Yes, you do make a commitment, but it is not as bad as you think. Commitment, sometimes, as in this case, has a negative connotation to it. This commitment, or as I would prefer to call it, decision, is the best decision I have ever made, and I know that many others feel the same way.

I do not have an amazing story behind my "conversion", but I do have some of the best friendships and people involved in my life, that I could ask for. These people guided me through my curiosity and my final decision to accept Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.
