Filled with electric excitement, Las Vegas is an amazing place to visit. You can gamble amongst the famous casinos, take in dazzling shows of talented performers or just enjoy the fantastic nightlife of the city. As with other major cities, there are dangers that exist, especially for tourists. The following are tourist safety tips for visiting Las Vegas.
Know the areas you are going into
You will want to be careful to know the different areas in which you venture. You will want to be careful about going into an area that is a bad area, where there may be an increased risk of crime. Some areas are good, but as with most cities, bad areas do exist, especially after the sun goes down. They may be looking for unsuspecting tourists in order to cash in themselves.
Leave the flashy jewelry at home
You may not want to bring flashy jewelry to Las Vegas. You are going to want to make yourself as unattractive as possible to criminals. Having a lot of expensive-looking jewelry of course does the opposite – it makes you look like a great target. You may even want to be careful about wearing something that is fake but looks real, because you do not want to be robbed at all. You may want to consider wearing jewelry that is obviously costume jewelry, simple silver jewelry or something of that nature.
Hide your money
You may want to find places to hide your money rather than having it swinging in an easy-to-snatch purse. If you go to a luggage store or another store that has travelers’ items, then you might find some wallets that allow you to hide your money under your clothes. They sell packs and wallets that go around your waist, around your arm and even some socks with hidden pockets. Try not to flash a lot of your money, as well.
Try not to brag loudly about winning a lot of money
You may be so excited about winning that jackpot that you just want to scream it from the rooftops. Try to avoid doing that. Again, by telling the world that you are in possession of large sums of money, you are definitely making yourself a more attractive target. Keep your good news to yourself and wait to tell people until later when the money is safely in the bank. Certainly do not tell every stranger you meet.
