Today something that had taken over my life for over twenty years cause a flash back at work today. I never expected it to happen but learned walking away from years of being stalked is not that easy to do.
Thirty years ago fresh out of high school I ran into a situation that was to impact my life. My whole life.
It was innocent but it accelerated to where I was being stalked. I was just doing my job. No harm meant to anyone but someone took what I said wrong and he started on vengeful stalking that lasted all five years I worked at this place where I met this person and first talked to him.
I was attacked, beaten, my car nearly destroyed and the final act I faced a gun and was nearly strangled to death. My bosses tried to help but this person was way ahead of them and me. He seemed to know what kind of weapon I had been given for my protection and was always able to defeat me. At the end my boss called me into the office. He gave me a gun and said it can not be traced. He told me he had not told anyone he was giving me this gun and I should not tell anyone either.
He said you're going to die and we can do nothing to help you. He said when the final moment comes use it or he will kill you.
That moment came within weeks.
The stalked one late night followed me home, ramming into my car, trying to run me off the road. I though I had lost him and went home to call the police bu he had followed me to my door. He pulled into my driveway blocking my car in and ran up to the car and stuck a gun in my window as I pounded on the horn trying to get help. He made one mistake. He didn't want to shoot me he wanted to strangle me. He reached in the car, putting his gun aside and he did and put both hands around my throat. He didn't know I had a weapon. It was in my lap I had taken it out of the glove box when he was trying to run me off the road. I reached down as the breath was leaving my body and raised the gun to his head. He saw the gun and saw my neighbors running to help me. He ran.
He left town the next day because he knew I could identify him. It turned out to be someone I knew, someone I though of as a friend.
The stalking continue long after he left town. He would called me and threatened my family, he said sick and demented things, we also believed he had someone watch our home and let him know when I was gone. We know that many nights we had someone in the back yard watching the house and we filed many reports with the
