The very question: “Do third party candidates "steal" votes from the other two parties,” is an arrogant one on the part of the two [mainstream] political parties. The “stealing” of anything absolutely requires the so-offended party to hold a valid claim to “ownership!” In a society of freemen, such a claim cannot even be validated over the other members of your own ideological party… and if it could, we would have no necessity for any political primaries, at all.
What those arrogant, pompous and elitist, career politicians forget is that: “every legitimate claim to personal [or individual] ownership always requires an honest physical effort being put forth to ultimately ‘earn’ it!”
As much as I might want, or desire, the house down the street, I cannot fault the realtor, for selling it to someone willing to suffer the price, rather than handing it over to me - for free. The same natural laws are honestly exhibited in politics, by the voting electorate.
When a candidates character is honestly judged deficient, his political platform is substantially less than desired, or his past record has been thoroughly trounced as an ongoing failure, he has earned nothing in the eyes of the voter.
If we, as a society, feel that a jury pool of twelve can reasonably decide what’s right in cases of life or death, then an electorate [consisting of millions] can properly interpret our mere political laws! If our elitist ruling class don’t like it, then so be it… as an individual American voter, I personally don’t care!
Which brings up a very interesting point, politically. For the first time in many generations, our electorate is finally displaying some political backbone… asking very significant and telling questions… and putting pressure on our leaders to effect “change.”
Nor, is it the kind of change that President Obama represents! Continuing the socialization of America with printed money isn’t their idea of true [or beneficial] change.
They are tired of the political slogans, propoganda, and outright unabashed lies - coming from both sides, of the political equation. After quietly sitting on the sidelines of the American electoral process, in justly apathetic disgust, they have clearly had enough! After sleeping for numerous generations, they have inevitably awoken to “The Truth About America.”
It may have taken an economic meltdown to accomplish it, but [at least] it finally happened! The American “Tea Party Movement” is the fastest growing political force today, and with good cause. Our leadership has failed to listen to or address numerous societal, political, financial, and economic problems for years… and they have created a debt far greater, than four generations of Americans could ever repay.
When “creating an annual budget” is their only mandatorily required political function, they concern themselves with everything but…. How then, have they earned anything [honestly], even their paychecks?
