Relationships are connections, behaviors, or feelings of one person to another, and almost every time, these relationships are complex and complicated. Each person has their own personality, characteristics, attitude, mannerisms, and behavior that may be somewhat similar or different from the others. It may be true that when we look for that special someone, we try to identify ourselves with them and see if we have anything in common. However, differences from each other can also bring two people together.

In any union, a give-and-take relationship is a must for it to flourish, develop, and last. This act can actually be easier if two people are opposite at certain extents. This difference between two people can complement them with each other. Whatever it is that is missing from one is complemented or filled by the other. A little variance in a relationship can prevent it from becoming boring, monotonous, and dull, thus bringing life, excitement, and anticipation to the couple. If two people are opposite just to a certain extent that they don’t hurt each other, it brings new things and learning into the relationship. You discover something new from your partner every now and then, and as a result learn from it. People that are opposite from each other have a natural chemistry and attraction, just like a magnetic attraction being on two different poles.

Personality wise, this is helpful in a relationship if one is a little hot headed and the other is more on the patient and cool side. This will significantly reduce arguments and disagreements. A person that is not afraid of entering into financial risks can easily be tamed and balanced by a person that is more logical and cautious. These differences can actually neutralize them and help them find the perfect balance in their union. If two people are alike in every aspect, the excitement and anticipation can actually be gone and may even contribute to the lack of things to talk about. Like if two people have the same career, knowledge level, personality, and temperament,  they might just find themselves engulfed in heated arguments all the time, that having a clash of ideas and opinions.

Having something in common is a good foundation in any relationship, assuring compatibility and understanding of each other’s character. However, being the exact opposite of somebody in some aspects can actually pull you together. You can enhance and complete each other’s shortcomings on a certain attribute if you are his total opposite on that aspect. Understanding, patience, and giving are still some of the most important qualities that have to be present in every relationship, but complementing each other’s flaws is one trait that is sure to be very effective.
