Guys are not experts at hiding their feelings.

So if a guy likes you, there are some clear signs for you to spot.

Firstly, believe it or not, if a guy likes you, really likes you, he will do a very un-male thing and text, email or call you a lot. You might think guys aren't great communicators, but when it comes to a girl he's got his eye on, a guy will suddenly find odd reasons to write or call. If you find a guy you know is texting you a lot, or wanting to thank you for the lovely chat you had yesterday, or wanting to say how good you looked in that top - he definitely likes you.  For a guy, communication is all about getting you to notice him.

 A guy who likes you will often become really awkward around you. This is not just a romantic comedy film cliche - it really happens. He will approach you with the intention of flirting, perhaps being a little cheeky and commenting on some aspect of your appearance and clothing - and he will instead trip over his words, mix things up, go a bit red and fall, metaphorically, on his face.

When a guy really likes a girl, he's got a problem. His usual tactics for making women like him or notice him - a bit of naughtiness, a bit of slightly edgy humour, lots of brash confidence - don't work, because for once he is actually worried that they might not work. This means he loses his confidence and starts tripping over things he would normally do easily. If a guy looks nervous in front of you, or sounds nervous in front of you, but is not like that with other women - he definitely likes you. A lot.

If a guy likes you he will make comments about how you look. This will be slightly different from normal male flirting. A guy who likes you will look you straight in the eye and tell you how good you look - and he won't say "good". He'll say "wonderful", or, and this is the killer - "beautiful". If a guy uses this word directly to you, then he really likes you.  He will be hyper-aware of trying not to appear sexist or say anything offensive, so he will studiously avoid referring to your chest or your backside: instead he will say un-male things, like "your eyes are whirlpools". 

Yes, girls - it is true. Liking a girl brings out the rubbish poet in every man on the planet. Even the most hardened sports fan or garage mechanic will turn into Byron or Keats when he likes a girl. So don't be offended if a guy you like suddenly starts saying stupid poetic things to you - it means he likes you, even
