DREAMER

Once upon a time long, long ago, there was a little bunny named Dreamer. He lived with his mother, four sisters and 6 brothers. Their home was a big burrow deep in the middle of a beautiful corn field. Every day his brothers and sisters would romp and play all sorts of wonderful games but Dreamer never joined in. Instead he would find a quiet place under the shade of a giant gum tree and look at the sky. He would watch the birds and butterflies flying around and dreamt about what it would be like to be able to fly.

one day while sitting under his favourite tree, he was startled to see a strange little man with big ears and pointy shoes. Dreamer had never seen him before and wondered who he was. As the little man came closer dreamer began to be frightened. “My name is Paddy, please do not be scared” he said to Dreamer “Come with me, I can help you to fly like the birds and butterflies.” Dreamer could not believe his ears, how could this strange man help him. It was all too much, so Dreamer followed Paddy deep into the forest. It wasn't long before they came to a crooked little house and went inside. Dreamer looked around and saw lots of things he had never seen before. Just then Paddy opened a door to another room and asked Dreamer to go inside. The room was dark and Dreamer grew very scared when he heard a loud whirring sound. “Oh dear what is happening, what is that funny noise” he thought.

suddenly the walls fell away and he was back outside. Dreamer looked and couldn't believe his eyes, there were horses, pigs, dogs, cats, sheep, even a goat and they were all flying around. “What is this place”, Dreamer said to himself, “I've never seen anything like this before”. He felt something odd on his back and when he turned his head, he saw he had wings. “My goodness” he thought “maybe I can fly too. With that he flapped his beautiful new wings and flew up into the sky. He was having such a wonderful time, then from a long way off he thought he heard his mother calling his name. He looked around but couldn't see her. Again he heard his mothers voice only this time it was much louder and he felt someone shaking him on the shoulder.

Dreamer opened his eyes and there was his mother telling him to wake up. “It is time to come home for dinner.” Dreamer looked around, he was under his favourite tree. He told his mother what he had seen, she looked at him and gently gave him a hug and laughed and said “Darling it was only a dream, rabbits can't fly.” Although it had only been a lovely dream, he was happy as now he knew what it was like to fly.
