Featuring an adrenaline-laced plot, captivating visuals, and a handful of breakthrough actors, Star Trek is a highly intriguing addition to the expansive Star Trek resume. Many viewers claim that Star Trek did the series justice, as it added spice and a new dimension to the characters and plot that many of us have come to know. The movie has breathtaking special effects and it follows famous characters.
It was directed by J.J. Abrams, produced by J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof, and written by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and Gene Roddenberry. The movie stars Chris Pine as James T. Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Karl Urban as Dr. Leonard McCoy, Zoe Saldana as Nyota Uhura, and Eric Bana as Captain Nero. There are many other actors and characters in the movie, as the movie focused on a very expansive world and story line.
The plot follows James T. Kirk. Ever since he was a young boy, he had always struggled in finding what he wanted in life. He always seemed to get into trouble. The movie opens by showing a vessel in space which was under siege by a mysterious tribe of creatures. James T. Kirk was placed under command of the vessel, and ordered everyone on the vessel to evacuate the ship. This included his wife, who was pregnant with James. However, James' father didn't leave the ship, as he knew that he would need to sacrifice himself. He left his son and wife behind. When James was an adult, he was offered to join the Federation. To give meaning to his life and follow in his father's footsteps.
The breadth of the movie follows James T. Kirk, Spock, and the entire crew aboard the USS Kelvin. You are able to follow each character and their interesting backgrounds and stories. James is fighting to avenge his father's death, and he will do whatever it takes to fight for his fleet. The special effects in the movie are very gorgeous. Since it takes place in space, there is a large amount of animation that had to be done, and the graphic designers hit the nail on the head.
Overall, Star Trek is a very intriguing adventure/sci-fi film. Even though many viewers may not be fans of the genre, it is a high speed and interesting movie. The plot will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you are a fan of the Star Trek series of the past, then it would definitely be worth it to view this newest addition. In all, Star Trek is an upbeat adventure film.
