What to do if you are having a panic or anxiety attack while driving...
*Symptoms of a panic attack:
Have you ever been driving and you suddenly feel a surge of anxiety and fear, your heart starts palpitating, you're sweating, and you feel dizzy, lightheaded, disoriented, sweating, nauseous, you're shaking all over and you feel as through you're going to die, lose control of yourself, your in another world "unreal" or that you maybe going crazy? If this suddenly happens to you, you're probably suffering from what might be your "first" panic attack or you may already be familiar with "all" of the symptoms of a panic attack and you're familiar with how it actually feels..."Like there will be "no" tomorrow."
*If a panic attack occurs while driving follow these suggestions:
If you're driving, please keep control of your panic attack by thinking of something enjoyable, spell your name, or repeat your address, and get off the highway before you kill yourself or someone else. After you've pulled over, you'll probably be shaking all over and wonder what in the world is happening to you, such as...am I going crazy? Sit there for a period of time and until you get your composure back, you're having a panic attack and they can make you think all sorts of silly things. Try pulling your head down as low as possible and count to one hundred, and if it has not subsided, repeat the same thing. After what you'll think is a lifetime, you'll start to feel your senses coming back to you and your heart slowing down and you'll slowly return to normal...I promise, you will. You may "never" suffer another one, but if you do, you will be better prepared to help yourself and to know you'll be okay after a short time.
*Fear of endangerment or a terrible fear of something:
Most people get panic attacks when they have a fear or they feel they're endangered or they're unable to escape from the danger. Many people say there panic attacks start when they fear driving over a bridge, fear of a crowd of people, fear of smothering, shopping, driving your vehicle, or just relaxing at home on your sofa. Do not be alarmed, most people in our world have experienced a panic attack one time or another in their life.
