How to promote a business blog is not really any different in simple terms from the ways in which one would promote a personal blog, or indeed any blog. The concept and principals of promotion on the Internet are largely standard and although the tools and resources may be somewhat different in how to promote a business blog as compared to a personal blog, the theory remains standard.
How to promote a business blog is in essence about obtaining as many one-way, inbound links to the business blog from around the Web as possible. This will serve to not only drive as much traffic as possible to the business blog in a direct fashion, it will also serve to boost the standing of the business blog within the search engine rankings by having it rated and consequently ranked higher. The higher a business blog is rated in the search engines, the more likely it is to receive high volumes of quality, organic traffic from same.
It is very often the case that a business blog is created to run in conjunction with an already established business website. Where this is the case, the place to start promoting the business blog is upon the business website itself. Where it is possible to do so, an RSS feed should be placed on the website in relation to the business blog. This will mean that every new post upon the business blog will appear on the website and essentially the blog can be made to serve as a newsletter for the business, for which the most recently published items can easily be determined and accessed from the website.
It is thereafter time to determine how to promote a business blog on the wider Web, away from the sites over which one has absolute control. This is achieved in the first instance by the one-off processes of submitting it to appropriate blog directories, social book-marking sites and placing where possible an RSS feed on social networking sites one has in relation to one’s business on MySpace, Facebook or equivalent.
In the longer term, how to promote a business blog around the Web is about establishing oneself as an authority on the subject nature of one’s business, getting oneself recognised as such as widely as possible and using this achievement to drive traffic to one’s business blog. One excellent way of achieving this status is by posting regularly to relevant forums and discussion boards. If one can add great value to such debates and include a link to one’s business blog in one’s resource box or signature panel, a great deal of traffic can be driven to the business blog in this way.
How to promote a business blog is also, however, about making others around the Web wish to link to one’s blog. This is best achieved by posting fresh, quality content to the blog on a regular basis, adding value to the blog in terms of the relevant and quality information visitors will find there and in this way making others wish to share it with their own readers.
How to promote a business blog can be seen therefore as an ongoing and never-ending tactic. It is imperative that one always be on the look-out not only for opportunities to promote one’s business blog but for new and exciting ways in which to do so.
