There is always one kid that has to be a smart aleck. You may not understand the smart aleck, but there is one thing for sure, he can come up with some good comebacks. Although being a smart aleck isn’t always a good sign, it can have its advantages. Understanding the characteristics of a smart aleck can help you to understand the child better.

Here are the characteristics of a smart aleck:

The Grin

A smart aleck seems to always have a grin on their faces. That is because they are up to something that they know they shouldn’t be doing. They are about to say or do something that will make any parent shake their head and speak those famous words “what am I going to do with you?” Parents don’t really know what to do with the smart aleck because he’s always one step ahead of them.

The Mouth

The smart aleck always has a smart mouth. There is something hanging on the edge of his tongue at all times. It is very rare that you can talk to a smart aleck without a smart reply popping out of his mouth. This lands him in hot water, but he just can’t help himself. He is stuck with the personality of a smart aleck and there isn’t much he feels he can do about it.

Attitude

A smart aleck would seem to be the type of person that is always down in the dumps and wants to make everyone else miserable. This is far from the truth. A smart aleck thinks he is being funny when he wise cracks a comment. He is a rather happy, little fellow that just wants everyone to laugh. He sometimes steps beyond the boundaries because he truly doesn’t see the harm in making a joke about everything.

Body Language

The body language of a smart aleck can tell you a lot about their characteristics. They will often put their hands behind their backs as though they are hiding something. They may bite their upper lip as they try to keep from making a joke or wise crack that will end him up in big trouble. He may sway from side to side as he appears to have something on his mind. He certainly does have something on his mind. He is waiting for just the right moment to make a crack that he just thought of. Be careful. He’s waiting for your cue.

Being a smart aleck can cause a lot of trouble for a child. He isn’t necessarily trying to find trouble. He truly can’t help that he does the things that he does. He does it because he thinks it is funny. There are good things about a smart aleck. They will never be the negative person that looks at gloom and doom. He will always be the person that finds something positive about every situation, even if it is to make someone laugh.
