They say that money is the root of all evil. Well, that is certainly true when it comes to depression. Money, whether we have too much of it {which can bring its own problems} or whether we have a lack of it, is irretrievably linked with depression. There is no escaping from that fact. Money is the biggest single over-riding factor in the well-being of the Mind. It causes more arguments, more marriage and family break-ups, and more social problems than it solves. And one has to wonder why? Why is that? What is it about money that can cause such depression and heart-ache?
Society, money, and depression are linked. The three go hand-in-hand. Because society today is money-driven, everything is based around it. Life passes us by in our pursuit of cash, until we suddenly find our health and well-being suffering because of it. Poverty is at an all time high, as the ranks of the homeless grow, and those who have homes are under increasing pressure to keep a roof over their heads. Foreclosures has become the 'in' word in today's society, as people simply cannot afford the repayments on their homes. And all the while depression grows, hidden away behind closed doors, as the worry and and pressure becomes too much to bare for some.
Those taking anti-depressents to numb the pain that worry, and a chronic lack of money can bring has increased. And some believe that peace of mind can be found in a bottle of pills. But of course, it is a false peace, as all our money worries are still there, whether we try to bury them or not. Time was when life was a lot more simpler, the pace of life a lot more slower, and money - although important - did not really play a major
