Old and Alone
My husband is gone, passed away twenty years.
I miss him desperately; I cry many tears.
My children were never born;
Now I am alone, old and worn.
Even my dog has passed away,
My parrots gone, too, both last May.
It is just me now,
And I will be ok, somehow.
I tend to my flowers and vegetables with care;
To see my hands idle would be very rare.
My small house is tidy, my yard trimmed well
I must keep working as long as I dwell.
I sit in the church and pray to God above,
Thanking Him for peace and His eternal love.
The years go by now slowly,
The time is quiet ; it seems Holy.
I am old and alone, but I am strong, I am wise
Look past the pale wrinkles into my eyes.
Don’t look away, don’t walk by me
Take my hand; don’t you see.
I’m old and alone.

"The Lonely Tower of My Heart"
Back to the solitude I had come to know
To the lonely tower of my broken heart, escorted
For two years now,
I sing sad songs solo.
At least I'm in tune.
Looking at the moon,
I wish for a man to love
someone special
