The Emerald Tablet, also called the Emerald Tablet of Thoth, Smaragdine Table, Tabula Smaragdina and the Secret of Hermes, is a legendary ancient artifact that lays the foundation for western alchemical wisdom and transcendental thought. It is frequently called The Emerald Table and is part of the Hermetica . Many believe it to be of most revered magical documents in Western occultism.
It is believed to have been authored by Hermes Trismegistus, an ancient alchemist master (group of three writers from different eras) who encoded the spiritual secrets of reality on to the tablet by combining the wisdom of the Greek god Hermes and the Egyptian god Thoth. Modern scholars are at odds about the actual author (authors) of the text, especially since the original tablet text language is not known. Thus several suppositions of authorship have recently emerged:
Three writer scribes created the ultimate document created the main document -
Thoth, Hermes number 1.
Akhenatan, Hermes number 2.
Appollonius, Hermes number 3.
The man or men (Hermes) was only a messenger revealing the words of a god (other than human entity from another source than Earth) to humanity.
The writer is an entity from another existence or “alien” venue (maybe of Atlantean origin).
The actual date of the original tablet, which is lost, is not known. Although some translations can be traced to the 12th century AD, it is believed the first known translation of the Emerald Tablet is in an Arabic book known as the “Book of Balinas the Wise on Causes”, dated sometime around 650 AD. Most archeologists and historians really do not agree who wrote the Tablet, when or where it originated. The many legends and myths concerning who wrote the Emerald Tablet make for great reading and movies, but keep the factual origin of the text murky.
One of the most common ‘facts’, told consistently in the myths and legends is the description of the tablet, which is “always described as a rectangular green plaque with bas-relief lettering in a strange alphabet similar to ancient Phoenician. It is made of emerald or green crystal, and the workmanship is exquisite” (Dennis W. Hauck). Even Carl Jung reported seeing a “green tablet” in his dreams about the text.
It may be the most ancient, revered and quoted mystical writing in the world; besides being one of the most feared transcendental documents of the ages of man. The patriarchal powers of many religions
