There are many reasons people can live without sex. Some by their own choice, like Catholic clergy, who consider it the way to get closer to God and not to be distracted by carnal pleasure of an Earthly nature.

Some might not have a sex drive. Asexuality does exist. There are people who simply do not have the need to it and have no problems with it. You may consider it an abnormality, but those people can function well in society and will cause less harm than some other sexual disorders.

There are also singles who do not have sex because they prefer not to have it outside a committing relationship, for religious or personal reasons and asexual couples. The only ones they might hurt with their choice are industries that live on the sex lives of others, like condom factories, the contraception pharmacy, sex therapists or prostitution.

Basically you may get that sex has become a part of a consumption society and is big business. Most of us do have some kind of need to it and marketeers and even experts motivate us that we need it.

Sex is a million selling industry that is not always this nice. Many sell their bodies to serve the needs of others and this is not always on a voluntarily basis.

Looking at it: some might prefer not to have sex because of traumatic experiences. Sex is not always fun and there are risks to it, like sexually transferred diseases and unwanted pregnancies.

Strictly biological it is obvious we might have a need to reproduce in order to maintain life and sex is the natural way to do so. Do mind that thanks to modern technology we actually do not even need it anymore to reproduce.

Fact is sex has become more and more an object of pure pleasure. It this unnatural? Probably not, since non productive or so called pure pleasure sexual behavior does exist in nature too. Masturbation, homosexuality and even pedophilia are also common among several animals.

So most people enjoy it because they like it and because it might be also a way of maintaining an intimate bound with this one special person, or some might just like the kick of it and play kinky games among equal minded.

How consenting adult people live their sex life should be a private matter and this is also so for those who prefer not to have one.

Respect is in order. We may not look down on people who for whatever reason live without sex. It can be their own choice and we should not consider it abnormal.
