DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!, that's what we are learning from Tiger Woods and the circus that he now calls a life. Look, Woods is an absolutely amazing golfer, one of the best of all time, but we have been force fed him for far too long and now the truth is out. Instead of the All-American boy who can do amazing things on the golf course and who can make us all forget about color and race, all we see now is another pathetic athlete who thought he could do what he wanted, when he wanted, where he wanted and with whom he wanted.
What I am trying to say is Woods fell trap to what all too many celebrities fall to, fame and fortune. The problem is, it's been all hype for far too long and the media and the public have fed this monster more than anything. No, I'm not trying to excuse his behavior. For every cheater out there, there is a fine upstanding, family man (or woman) who just happens to be in the public eye, but who chooses to stay true to who they are. What I am saying is that the media (and the public too) wanted to believe in him, were impressed and encouraged by his life story and were willing to do much to keep the hype going, no matter much evidence to the contrary.
The problem with Woods and the reason I talk about hype, is because Tiger, in reality, is a mean, foul mouthed, impetuous, tantrum throwing baby who wants his way all the time and acts out when he does not get it. The dirty little secret of the PGA Tour is Woods' action on the course, away from the cameras and the accolades. The man routinely throws his clubs, for little or no reason. He curses like a merchant seaman and glowers at anybody who does not wear the Nike logo. Worse, he's a sore loser. In one tournament last year he was playing the 18th hole with the eventual winner and he made the guy putt before him, just to steal some of the accolades from the crowd. Woods is a punk in the sportsmanship department, but it's only a few, whispered comments that get out, actually criticzing him.
Oh, you people did not know Tiger had anger management issues? That he had no grace or class on the field of play? Of course you did not, because the "reporters" refused to report the truth and make sure we knew the good and the bad of Woods. There is no way you can tell me that most of the golfing world did not know about Woods' indiscretions! And while I could care less about them, I do feel that
