Poetry: Pride

by Marcus Bentley Wise

Created on: February 22, 2010

Let me be the one,

That you pick for the team, point and say I’ll have you. Not left till last as the one that will have to do.

Let me be the one,

The one you want to kiss at the end of the night. Not take flight and run as far away as you can leaving me, alone.

Let me be the one,

To get the promotion this time. Not be passed over, or told you are too valuable where you are. And you don’t get the keys for the company car.

Let me be the one,

Elected when you vote for me. Doing good for all to see. Just do not look to hard at my C.V. It’s not quite the truth but it’s not as bad as it could be.

Let me be the one

The one and only

Let me in and me only

Let me be the one that you crave

And forgive me the way I behave

For if you do not then what will I do.

I’ll have to be content with number two.
