Looking at market trends, suitability and the technical aspect, it is clear that Nokia stands out as the best mobile phone. Hot on its heels are manufacturers like Motorolla, Sony Ericsson, Apple and Samsung. The recent years has seen these companies emerge as real competitors- majorly due to recent technological advancements and marketing strategies. So what makes Nokia have the edge over other manufacturers? Here are some good reasons:
Firstly, Nokia phones are the most user friendly compared to other manufacturers. The simplicity sets a huge gap between Nokia and its competitors. Most consumers want devices that are able to go around the common functions like sending messages, calling and organizing calendars with ease. Nokia satisfies this capably.
Secondly, the durability of mobile phones ranks as one of the core considerations when choosing a mobile phone. Nokia phones may not have the best external design and sleekness, but they are surely long lasting and very reliable. I still have my Nokia 3210 handset which was purchased in 2003. I have dropped it more than 15 times, changed the case four times, replaced the battery five times and it is still fully functional (though I never use it anymore because the current mobile phones are more useful). I have never got such a record from any other manufacturer’s phone.
Thirdly, Nokia designs phones to serve the world, not a specific region. Apple touch screen phones are praised for their accuracy and response to the touch. This is due to the use of capacitive touch screens which have a disadvantage of responding to the finger only. Nokia adopted the use of resistive touch screens for their range of touch screen devices, which respond to any type of object. Nokia has been criticized over the use of the less responsive touch screen, but they insisted that they target the world as a whole. Those who live in Polar Regions would not be comfortable using their fingers when out in the cold.
Looking at the marketing aspect, Nokia gets the nod for variety. Nokia has over fifty different handsets which serve different purposes. This gives the consumer a lot of options when it comes to choice. Added to this, their mobile phones are in a range of prices, from the cheap to the expensive, making it a brand considered by all classes of people. Some manufacturers like Apple have few handsets which are rather expensive and may lock out potential customers.
