Apparently the two-party system is not working well for our Republic since over the last several years unemployment is higher than it's ever been, we are in debt several trillion dollars, the housing market is in the tank, there are no new job creations and we owe other countries millions of dollars for bailing 'us' out and we still stand in the hole.

Let's take a look at our two-party system. We will start with the Democratic Party and what they stand for: strong economic growth, affordable health care, retirement security, open, honest, accountable government and securing our nation while protecting our civil rights and liberties.

Apparently none of those items have taken place considering the plight of the country at the moment. Their agenda is to end the war in Iraq, create millions of jobs, free ourselves from oil dependency and invest in renewable alternative energies, restore civil liberties, uphold civil rights and protect the environment. Again, they have yet to reach their agenda.

The Republican Party says they stand for low taxes, preserving our national strength, support local businesses, encourage entrepreneurs to start more businesses and limit government. It doesn't appear that they have met their goals either.

Their party seems to state that their agenda is national security, government reform, the economy, energy, environment, health care, education, crime and to restore values to this country.

Both parties seem to want to do the same things in essence, so why is there such in-fighting? If everybody wants to accomplish the same goals, why aren't they being done and where is the cooperation?

Since neither party can seem to agree or get along, then perhaps it is time for the 'other' party. Namely, the Independent Party. Let's take a look at what they stand for.

Respect for life, liberty, strong traditional families, education, an allegiance to the original Constitution, a strong reliance on the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. It sounds like they want to follow the findings of the original Founding Fathers.

Their agenda includes: restoring Christian heritage, giving the government control back to the people by limiting the size, power and function of the government, follow the Constitution, save our natural resources, and get our country back on track.

Since the Democratic and Republican parties can't seem to agree on anything, yet supposedly hold the same agenda, it is time for the third party to step in. Let's face it, they could do no worse than what we have been experiencing over the last 50 years.

There have been no changes with the two-party system and all we hear is the same rhetoric from both parties every election. It is high time that the Independent Party step up, providing that the Democratic and Republican parties don't quash them like they have in the past.
