I have always maintained Gold can be found everywhere. Most places do not carry enough to make you wealthy, but gold prospectors do not search out of greed. The ones that do get frustrated in just a couple weeks. No, it's not the wealth of the Gold that keeps us going. It is a passion. As Robert Service wrote in "Spell of the Yukon", gold is haunting and haunting and luring me on as of old, yet it's not having the Gold, so much as it is finding the Gold.
It is no fun looking for Gold and not finding any though. Finding it IS the thrill. I can tell you places in every state that Gold occurs. Gold has been found everywhere from the Ohio River, to the banks of the Missouri. Did you know, the entire pacific coast, from California to Alaska bears flood Gold? And this gold can be recovered simply with beach boxes with minimal environmental impact? It is true! Next time you go to the beach, ANY beach... If you recover blacksand, it is a good sign, becuase Gold is usually found in black sands, as those are heavy minerals, Gold is heavier than blacksand however.
The reason many streams don't seem to have gold, is because gold wants to go straight down, deep. It works it's way sometimes hundreds of feet down to bedrock. If you could actually GET to the bedrock in non gold bearing streams, you may very well be astonished by the amount that is actually there!
Regardless of what country you are in, Gold has the same characteristics. If you dig gravel from under the water, care must be taken, or else the Gold will fall off the shovel when you lift the material out of the water. For excavating under water, I recommend the purchase of a hand dredge, for sale on ebay for around $40 US or so. By sucking the gravel, you
