When you have cooking oil that has leaked or spilled on your floor or counters this handy trick works well to keep from smearing the oil and making a bigger mess.
Sprinkle some baby powder on top of the cooking oil. Use any brand of your choice. Allow the powder to soak up the oil for a few moments. You will see the cooking oil coming through the top of the baby powder. Sprinkle a little more baby powder on top of the areas that soaked through, wait a few moments again. Repeat this process until the cooking oil no longer soaks through the top of the baby powder.
When you go to remove the baby powder, use a piece of cardboard or plastic to scrape it up. This way you will not smear any residue left over.
After removing the baby powder, simple use warm water and dishwashing detergent to remove any oily residue left over.
