There is no real way to truly "overcome" procrastination. The very word is strongly associated with lazy people who are all full of potential. The very first thing a high school student should do is ask themselves if they are procrastinating. The chances are the student does not even know they are doing it as procrastination in simply words is a way our mind deals with stress of having too much responsibility. It is strange to think of it that way, but we as humans need this mental break; however, there is the natural tendency to goof off and the abnormal tendency to know it is bad, but still do it?

Don't do what everyone else is doing. Conformity is a way of life, but there are times when this can go horribly wrong. There will be drugs, sex, and parties where ever you turn. Your hormones are through the roof and you are confused. There are alternative outlets for such things, such as writing, music, studying, sports, Church, whatever it takes, don't fall into the trap.

Don't ever use a hang over as an excuse to not finish your projects; you did it to yourself.

Close social bonds at such early age only creates problems. Your significant other will probably rack up your phone bills while your test scores diminish since you haven't gotten the right amount of studying in... and for that matter the break-ups are painful and might cause you to lose your mind. How can you study for that Pre-Calculus knowing the love of your life is sleeping with your best friend? Sure, there are a few picture perfect couples out there, but unless you feel like you're that amazing and lucky...don't do it...

Don't always listen to your parents. There...I said it. Parents are too protective and sometimes very harsh. They are not always
