Combat is composed of seven skills, each of which is enormously popular for players to train. The thing is...how do you train combat? Strength, Attack, Hitpoints, and Defence can all be trained at the same place or against the same monster, this is because they are all melee skills. However, the four other skills such as Range, Mage, and Prayer each have their own unique training methods. To start with you will want to choose an attack style for the weapon you are wielding. For example, a Scimitar has four attack styles, the first one raises Attack, the second one raises Strength, the third one divides the experience you get by four and equally divides them between the skills (don't use this to train with), and finally the last one raises Defence. Every time you get a hit on a monster the experience you gain is 4 x (the hit amount), Hitpoints are automatically raised with every hit but the experience you gain is 1.1 x (the hit amount).
Melee: Strength, Attack, Hitpoints, Defence, Prayer.
Levels 1-10: At these low levels you will want to train on chickens. If you are short on money then pick up the feathers, if you want prayer xp then pick up the bones and bury them. You will gain 5 xp for every regular bone buried, while this is not much, it can add up substantially as you train combat.
Levels 10-30: If you have 10 attack then get a black scimitar, if you don't it's not that big of a deal. Now, head west of Edgeville until you reach the Monastery. These monks are great training as they have a low combat level but high Hitpoints, making for great training.
Levels 30-40: Now that you are level 30 combat head off south to the Barbarian Village, kill the Barbarians there.
Levels 40-50: Go to the Grand Exchange and buy yourself a brass key, then go a little south of the Grand Exchange, then west until you see a little house. Use the brass key on the door and go down the ladder. You are now in a room full of Level 28 Hill giants.Train on these for as long as you like, they drop big bones which afford much greater prayer xp, instead of the measly 5 xp per regular bone, big bones give 15 xp each.
Levels 50-70: Now head off to the Stronghold of Security, go down to the second floor and head north until you come to a room full of level 35 flesh crawlers. These have a max hit of 1, and 25 hp each, making them incredibly great for training.
Levels 70-90: At this point you should make your account a member. Membership gives access to weapons and armor that are much stronger
